Safety

Your safety is important and you need to remind yourself of some of these best practices for both online and offline dating.

Safety: Online dating

Exaggerate and lie
Some users will not tell the truth. Always be aware that what people say may be fabricated.

Defraud
Never send money to any other member. No mater what their story is, they will be a scammer.

Stay on the site
Scammers want you to leave the site quickly to avoid detection. Message via the site as long a possible.

Pictures
Don’t use profile pictures that you have used on social networks. Google image search will reveal your identity.

Blackmail
If you share erotic pictures then crop them so your face is not included, this helps protect you from blackmail.

Safety: Offline dating

Background check
Collect some basic information about your date and Google it. Check their Facebook / LinkedIn accounts to be sure everything matches up.

Meeting in a public place
Arrange a date in public like like a coffee shop, bar, restaurant. Don’t meet up at homes until you have confidence in the other person.

Tell your friends
Tell someone details about your date, such as, who, when and where.

Take your mobile
Remember your mobile phone and ensure it’s charged and full of credit.

Arrange your own transport
Make your own way to and from a date. Don't accept a lift from your date
